Loy Yang A has four generating units with a combined capacity of 2,200 megawatts

kranky hopefully exergen and ect coldry get the tick of approval from aldp rather than a multi national in Shanghia Electrical that are after a large coal allocation and do not need australian taxpayer funding that should encourage local technology development.

put in perceptive the above 2200 megawatts and time frame of 4 years ERF.

10 megawatts also does not add up on many levels.

Diesel injection engines may ignite power stations change

Large-scale diesel injection engines that use brown coal as a fuel could replace Latrobe Valley brown coal power stations.

Federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt has named the company Ignite as working on technology to halve emissions from brown coal generators within a decade.

Ignite is part of a group called Dice Net which includes Brown Coal Innovation Australia, AGL and Energy Australia.

Ignite executive director John White says the technology will use upgraded coal and would be commercially available by 2018.

"To build a test engine at about five-10 megawatt capacity, and run it in the Latrobe Valley, that will probably cost $30-40 million over the further two or three years and the next stage after that will be to build full-scale commercial engines, at 30-80 megawatt capacity," he said."
