The board stopped the transaction going through on the basis of a change of opinion by the IE; nobody else.
Also, oil and gas exploration is by it's very nature a hit and miss game. Just because a person/company/association has succeeeded in one particular field at one point in time, it does not follow that they have god's greatness bestowed on them to repeat such success anywhere else in the world.
Further, if GGX prospects are so great, why on earth would they want to share the spoils of the clearly imminent success with OIP shareholders? Must be a very charitable bunch over there at GGX. Or maybe they ran out of cash for a raising. Or maybe their prospects aren't so great after all. Or maybe there's more to it, but unfortunately when given the opportunity to talk about GGX's prospects to their own shareholders at the EGM they declined.
