Do your shares pay dividends with attached franking credits?

If 1 yes and 2 no then you would need to apply for a refund.

I suspect this may be where some of the savings may come for Labor as the ato are running a pilot to automatically refund franking credit cash.
They don’t currently refund if you don’t apply.
They won’t need to refund in the future if they don’t pay cash refunds.
I believe you can still claim refunds from previous years. You should seek some advice.
