Consider youself lucky to be so centred and at peace with the world.
Me? I’m just materialistic hedonist who’s tries to live the fullest possible life in retirement. After 45 mostly miserable working years of being frugal and doing without, I don’t see why I should now live like a Buddhist Monk in retirement. Been there, done that. Now it’s cruises, convertibles and champagne. Call me shallow and vacuous if you will but I intend to die with a smile on my face.
We agree on one thing, however, - that you can’t take it with you. When they discover that this thought bubble of retiree tax fails to raise the money they projected, the next thing in Desperate Bowen’s brain will be a return to death duties. It’s already being proposed.
