One of the issues which accountants have is with some of the poor wording of ATO descriptions. SAPTO is a case in point. It has befuddled, bewildered and bedevilled my accountant and myself over the years as to my own eligibility. Maybe I have enabled the ATO to take a gift from me for several years now. However, it is beyond commonsense for someone with a similar assessable income to that being discussed here, to get a taxpayer funded SAPTO when I also receive a Defined Benefit Pension (zero tax) and a Super Annuity (zero tax) as well. So, say thank you to me on behalf of fellow taxpayers of Australia given that I may have been dudded. I will live with it.....lol. Sheesh.
Hope the fellow "oldie" gets accountant's advice on this and that his choice of accountant is as good as mine. I still don't reckon that SAPTO will swing his decision. Even by a centimetre......
You need to eat lentils as well, you know.
