Yes in crypto trading that seems to be one of the most basic tactics, but on the ASX professional traders don't really care what the sell side looks like after they work out their exit price. I have seen fake buyers test the sell side, and it looks solid, not fake. That's why the stock is actually falling - the sells are real (perhaps slightly exaggerated higher up the book by those piggy backing on the manipulation tactic you suggested).
