Doesn't really need patents. You just don't rip out a nurse call system and put in a new one from a competitor due to price etc, as the hospitals are risk adverse etc. You will stay with the incumbent as long as you can and then only move if the new player offers a substantial product extension. Now the question is do we have the best product extension - possibly yes, and how many of the 8000 sites we have can we upgrade and retain etc.
In my view we have a strong ability to defend our market share and upgrade them thus locking them in further and the poaching competitors market share.
