Interestingly the ASIC data showed that after the 6/3/15 plummet many of the long term shorts were covered. The shorts fell from 6.35% to 5.43% by 11/3.
I've never really understood the daily ASX shorts data as it does not seem to marry up well with the ASIC data. I suspect some of the difference comes from churning of stock ie day traders vs long term shorters for ASIC.
