Might be possible. Geoff Wilson at WAM often gets spotted sniffing around distressed LICs with a view to taking them down a new path. However at cafe value I'm not sure if you can automatically 'convert' an ordinary company into a LIC. I've never thought about it. And regarding tax losses, no idea.
