GB, jury is still out on Ms Lopez and her hard line environmental policies . She's slapped suspensions on 6 Ni mines to date but they all have existing orders over them and are known environmental vandals. Her original policy stated that minimum was compliance to ISO 14001. Only 13 mines of 41 has this to date, the compliance date was April this year. However most of the remaining mines seem to be still operational, although the audit still has some course to run.
I am heavily invested in RED's Siana gold mine and presently doing a risk assessment on this. My personal opinion is that while Ms Lopez would like to wack all mining companies but Mr Duterte might be putting the breaks on her a little bit. If mining companies can comply with ISO 14001, have a reasonable WHS record, and have involvement in the local community (including keeping the IP happy) then they have a good chance of keeping on her good side. To complicate things there are a number of local governments that are anti mining which automatically gives Ms Lopez a leg up.
We're all watching this space with great interest.
