I think you are confused. Go on their website and click on 'product'. Their first product is an Adapter - IN goes analog, OUT comes digital/analog. Wow!
Forget about the second product 'software', that is not proprietary. Don't believe me? Read the first sentence, "Dante Controller is a free software application" Wow again!
So you think the value is in transmitting 100 audio channels over a network? What you mean like receiving 100 signals via microphones, converting that to digital and then aggregating it through some system?

Regarding your last point, you are wrong. The Berlin Philharmonic isn't just capturing-broadcasting. It looks to me like they sell CDs too, cut/edit/enhance...and their entire concert hall is connected to a network.
