There's usually a heap more on the sell side - looking at the daily inmarket depth and totals - you can see the sell side go from 3.7 down to our current mark today, as people (or machines) punch their buy orders in.

A fair correspondence with Gold getting a wriggle on, and then some external shocks (Brexit, AU election farce) - with some 'flight to safety buying.
