I agree Cam. Palta is a real wildcat. Notwithstanding sometimes wildcats do come in. We dare to dream. If Palta came in on spec i.e. 10 - 12 TCF it would be huge in it's own right (as pointed out approx. double the size of Pluto and big enough to support two LNG trains), but just as important would be the upgrading of the WA 384-P and then we have WA 385-P and WA 394-P. The upgrading of these permits while hard to quantify would be significant and may be worth as much as the discovery itself.
I have mentioned in earlier posts that companies can be very 'coy' about discoveries that may extend into other permits that they don't own. Shell are the sole operator of this permit. Would they even need to announce a discovery? I suspect that they would be very quiet. If it is a duster there may be definitive announcements, but if it is a success then getting information may be like extracting teeth, and I expect it to be completely downplayed if we get any information at all. Shell will likely only meet their legal obligations to report and barely that. I'm pretty cynical I'm afraid. There would be a lot at stake here. If there is significant success with the drill bit, it is likely that OXX at some point would be taken out. Geoff has a fair bit of 'grey hair' (but then so have I). But one thing is for sure is that any buyout would only happen on terms that Geoff is happy with.
