its about 20 klms away from the historic beechworth gold fields..........not sure how far afield they found gold.. but its in the right place, in the old days one of my brothers used to just find small pieces of gold on the ground, said it financed his entertainment money for years......
the oldtimers found a lot of gold in the area back in the 1880's or so, but they kept it to themselves, until the gold rush days.........
its a really pretty drive up there only about 3 hours from melb
