Whilst not necessarily reading the whole of the earlier conversation:

In the bigger picture, my view is that peakers will disappear, and battery storage will replace them.

Batteries in the home is at the beginning of the early adopter phase. But I also think putting them in the home is the wrong solution, because it is inefficient (in totality). It will over time shift the cost of supporting the grid from the rich (who can afford solar and batteries) to the poor (who can't).

Now, If you ignore that, the most efficient solution is fore the grid operators to install the batteries in the GRID, near the points of renewable input, and near suburban distribution points.

This would allow them to reduce the amount of peaker input, and balance grid load at the micro level. And in the long run this will be much more cost effective, and flexible.

This is how California and Hawaii are pushing their total renewable generation levels so high, with multi billion dollar battery installations into the grid. The threat to peaker companies will be seen in how these markets play out.

I have a 10 year investment thesis that basically says "buy every (grid) battery company you can", because the demand for grid batteries will be so great, that most will succeed. And this is why I hold redflow.

Anyways, thanks for tagging me in @Brumpypat.

Now I'll add EPW to my research pile
