I get the premise that RNT will offer a disruptive tool to renters and amazing services to landlords, cutting out the agents, big guys etc etc. That is fine.
The first step as you note is perhaps the most difficult though, as you call it "dominating rental traffic". They will need to dominate the space for long enough to use that as an incentive for renters to go to rent.com.au first and landlords secondly once they know that's where all the renters are. This first step is still, in my opinion, the problem with the concept, as per my post above.
And to say that RNT are early movers and other companies dont have data, infrastructure, software engineers and the computing power of amazon, well.. I guess I just have to disagree.The existing players have all of those things + hundreds of millions of cash in their war chest to compete with anyone they see as a threat.
I think the whole landlord service provider concept has some real merit, just not convinced trying to become the goto rental listing site as a first step is the best approach.
