REA will never allow private listings as it will cause agents who currently subscribe to move to newer cheaper sites like RNT. Currently you can list you private rental on REA via a 3rd party agent, but only then to find the agent takes the inquiry call, not you, and then you pay more money on top of youre so called one off listing fee, just for each inquiry. With RNT its free listing, all controlled by you. No 3rd party. This will bring market share. No doubt about it.
