MQB, AMP, BEN, BOQ & SUN as a banking franchise would certainly have the eastern states covered with some representation in the other states. Would be messy to put together and the ACCC would have their say as well but the millionaire factory (MQB) would be in the best position to pull it off.
We can only dream on but a rationalization of the smaller banks is always on the cards hence a holding in same at current prices is a sensible play for their dividend yield and possible amalgamation potential. A long shot (amalgamation) but a possibility which is in contrast to the four pillar banking policy.
BEN community banking system and BOQ franchise model would take some sorting out but if these two are to grow then it would be prudent for them to sit around the board room tables to thrash out a deal. Once these two have a deal then you could throw SUN & MQB into the mix. Another listed minnow is MYS.
All just speculation at this point in time. (Dec:- I hold BOQ & MYS atm)
