Hi Justin. In an attempt to keep as many people happy as possible, a compromise may be an easier way out for the NTG. There's little doubt that a removal of the moratorium would benefit NT and E.coast Aust (also potential exports). However there's such strong opinions against fracking, that he may turn around and permit it only in the Beetaloo sub basin. Why? Because the report estimates that around 70% of total NT shale gas is in the sub basin. (Final report Ch 6.3, paragraph 1). I have no other specific info to back this up. The report focusses on the sub-basin as that is the only place that has recent drilling and gas-flow data, specific to the investigation, to go on; and is located in one of the areas of most concern to indigenous NT's. A case study was made on the Origin Amungee well.
I hope to hell that he opens the NT on a case-by-case assessment basis.
