Hi, I think the problem is that the amount of bonus share will no more than be the cash component of the divi, so you miss out on the franking credit anyway.
Just thinking about the DRP; shareholders were also missing out on getting the imputation component being added on, to purchase the share! I was never informed whether I could/couldn’t claim the imputation credit - simply got a small discount.
