Investing in Greenland must become more attractive. It says Naalakkersuisoq for Raw Materials and Labor Market, Erik Jensen (S).

Right now, he participates in the raw material trade show PDAC in Canada together with a large delegation from Greenland and Denmark. The Crown Prince and the Danish Energy Minister are also involved.
According to a report from the Fraser Institute , Greenland is heading down the list of countries in the world that are attractive to operate mining.
Right now we are on a 63rd place out of 83 in the list of most attractive countries.
Back in 2013, Greenland was at its peak as number seven of 112.

It is slow and difficult to start mining projects in Greenland, says the criticism from, among other things, the mining industry.
    • Greenland's Business, Naalakkersuisut, Kongehuset, Danish industry and the Danish government have just sent more than 70 representatives to Toronto in Canada to promote Greenland to investors and mining companies from all over the world.
    • According to the Economic Council's annual report for 2018, rising prices are expected for many of the raw materials that can be extracted in Greenland.
    • It is expected that several projects will open in the coming years.
    • The many exploration permits that have been granted can therefore have a major impact on Greenland's economy if they become something.
    - Of course we take note of the report. This is also why we are here at the conference. We will exchange experiences so that we can contribute to the desire for investment to come back to Greenland, says Erik Jensen.

He acknowledges that it can be hard for investors to kick the door into Greenland.
    - The bureaucracy is a process that must be worked on in Naalakkersuisut. My predecessor has also worked on it, but now we want to be proactive and move out and talk to investors and other potential partners. Investing in Greenland must be more attractive for the benefit of Greenland, he says.
Because it is important to attract investors, says Erik Jensen:
    - It is important for society to create growth and jobs. In this way we can achieve a self-sustaining economy. There is plenty of potential and plenty of opportunities that can be better exploited. That is why we are sending a delegation to Canada. Then we can show the big world that we are a country that wants more from the mine resources we have, says Erik Jensen.
