"To be less cynical, it is fair to say that the mining industry also has a stake as a materials supplier to the renewables/energy storage industries. And it's genuinely refreshing to see a mining lobby group starting to frame the industry in this way.'

Exactly, mining isn't just about coal.
Lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, graphite, rare earths and much more.
The Government support, or at least not hinderance should be given to these industries.

Then there is a whole new industry of processing the lithium to make it into batteries or at least lithium carbonate or hydroxide, industries that relate to graphene and graphite.

Instead the Coalition, and labour opposition, (CFMEU connection) wanted to give a billion dollars to support Adani's transport infrastructure, and tax holidays.

So it would be good when Rio fully come on board against the MCA blind support for the coal lobby. Basically they are the coal lobby.

I, for my small part, support wave energy, micro renewables along with EV's and batteries for the grid.

Fossil fuels emissions are changing the atmospheric chemistry as well as being poisonous.

I had nor seen the article in SMH or Fin Review. There is hope, although still a strong rear guard Action by the Tony Abbott and Craig Kelly's ( Avowed renewable energy hater ) of the world.

Malcolm Turnbull, as the wind changes he will. It's all about political donations and jobs for mates.

    I won't go on.
