Folks at IBM, Oracle and Siemens have been in the IoT space for quite a while. IBM are the current club house leader imo. IBM have been running a massive project / pilot in the Philippines capturing data from connected cars and sharing with infrastructure utilities for planning / traffic management. Data capture and management is a massive core business for IBM.
Siemens are well advanced in Europe.
It's not going to be a walk in the park for new business.
The Microsoft connections will help.
