Just a taste of the latest (informed!?) guesses/rumours re: Interoil Gulf LNG project and possible participation of EWC. (see below comments from three different people).
(On a different note (re: Sengkang 60MW power plant expansion), remember that, the last upgrade from 120MW to 190MW was reported to the ASX 7 days after commercial operations commenced (report to the ASX on 24 November, 2008, commercial operations on 17 November, 2008)).
Latest talk on the % buy in from the govt is if IOC choses a Super Major they the PNG govt only want the 2.5% I have reported earlier. If IOC choses EWC then the PNG govt wants 27.5% still. If you were IOC would you chose for the first train a Super Major??? Which Super Major will pay up??? Total now surrounds the IOC leases. Can't be much longer maybe 30 or so days or less.
I get the strong impression that EWC is not a primary bidder through the investment banks, and therefore that it is not a matter of IOC "choosing" EWC, but rather whether the bidder/partner selected, such as JKM for example, wants to use EWC as part of the project. Do you disagree with this impression?
Appears we are very close. Lots of possibilities..EWC may be in later deals. Others make what EWC offers. Mitsui has their own technology favorite they prefer and its not EWC.Not to say we may not see EWC later.
Shell can't be a preferred bidder. IOC and the PNG govt want a Super Major. Which one???
