70's technology ? You're kidding , right ? The Lithium battery of today is vastly different to the original invention.
There's no new battery tech commercially available but there is massive amounts of development under testing right now.

Your right about Rivian's availability. Production starts in 2020 with them becoming available within 12 months of the start of production. So it will be 2021 rather than 2020. My bad.
