Mogga, as a former SES officer of many years I have been to more major floods than you can poke a stick at, and rescued a number of folks that were dumb enough to drive through floodwaters in Landcruisers and Hilux both. Also been a farmer in the lower catchments during the biggest flood in the districts history. And in my younger days lived in Cairns and its wet seasons. So yes, I've seen a flood or two. And yes, driving through flood waters is now illegal for obvious reasons. And you always have a choice - unless you're risking your own life to save people that don't understand the dynamic of driving in floodwaters.
