Though I believe that clean energy vehicles will ultimately displace combustion engine, 6-8 years is highly unrealistic timeline. The costs are nowhere near affordable levels to achieve that. Right now and in the near term: EVs are and will be in the luxury range, price wise. And will have similar penetration as luxury car market enjoyed. (Maybe slightly higher)
Not until prices can be competitive with an entry budget combustion engine model can we expect large adoption of EVs. And then it will take a decade for combustion engine to go into the history books. But we are far from there right now
