So what you are saying is that Australia really IS different.

"As one that does a bit of research, I thought you'd be better informed. Public transport in Melbourne only moves about 20% of commuters. So, as sensible as it would seem to move them by public transport, we would have to rebuild the city in order to make it work. In other words , it's just not possible.

So it is easier to change the fleet in Australia than the idea of the Melbournians & Sydneyites giving up a motor vehicle & using a more efficient & vastly improved public transport system.

I would think the greenies would be all over this as the CO2 reduction benefit would be far greater than electrifying all cars, as currently the Australian policy is getting set for transport that suits the average commuter?

Cities like Paris, London, Beijing, Osaka, New York all have significantly higher population & a vastly better public transport system & move vastly more people effeciently.......yet apparently that is not possible in Australia? Why??

Yet we are being told that we ( Australia) should model ourselves on the Norweign model for cars (EV) 9Why??) being the golden haired child , with a population of the country that is barely larger than out two combined biggest cities & an area not much larger than Victoria (& bulk of population spread over a couple of citie --- EV model works well for them, bulk of power (99%) is hydro. If 99% of our power generation was hydro then we would be having a different discussion as currently our EV model is coal powered.
