It should work with managed funds but not so much with managed portfoliois. Most of the managed funds have very low minimums but the managed portfolios often have minimums from $5k but usually theyre over $25k . I like the portfolios because you can own the shares directly and they tend to be cheaper. If you are trying to diversify you need to be careful of crossing your strategies up because you dont want one fund manger trading against another in your fund.
