AUSTRALIAN technology and services company Gekko Systems has been able to demonstrate the full range of its capabilities for YTC Resources at its emerging Hera gold-base metal project in the New South Wales district of Cobar in eastern Australia.

Gekko’s modular design and construct model is said to have achieved financial and productivity benefits for the project, including lower capital cost per installed rate of throughput, and faster delivery, installation and commissioning. The company’s experience and focus on pre-concentration flow sheets also enabled it to optimise the plant footprint.
The use of the VSI crushers and Vertimill, instead of a standard ball mill, is the main factor in Hera’s reduced process-plant power consumption. Three-stage crushing is expected to produce a coarse grind to 250 micron. Rougher flotation at 250 micron will be followed by regrind of bulk flotation concentrate to 38 micron, with cleaner flotation to upgrade the bulk concentrate.
