    working with your hands, sometimes in
    salt water etc, all of which would dry the skin out and the need to
    keep the skin tough for what you do for a $

    And the skin being so dry so it won’t stretch without cracking.

    A bit tricky:
    But as it’s only in one spot and not on the rest of that hand,
    or presumably the other hand,
    it’s just a “problem spot” and you can hopefully find a balance to treat it
    by softening that problem spot enough to restore normal tissue and blood flow to allow it to fully heal.
    And maybe protect it while it heals ......if that’s at all practical.
    Then toughen it up .....so it’s like the rest of that hand and the other hand.

    Or plan B
    Win the lottery and retire.
