I follow all of the ASX mining plays in Korea, like POW and PSM as well as those with Korean offtake AUZ (hopefully) and PLS

I am not well informed enough to speak specifically to this project but I think SAU have a capable man on the ground in Korea and they are actively engaging with all the relevant organisations including local councils, MOTIE, KORES, AKBC and Austcham as well as government bodies.

There are some interesting tailwinds and headwinds for mining in Korea. First hurdle has been convincing Korean industry that Korea has mineable resources - its a bit like convincing Australia to set back up car manufacturing, the answer from stakeholders is 'we dont do that anymore'
There is also environmental concerns, fine dust is out of control in Seoul and while its not directly linked to mining operations, for the uneducated local council reps it could be.

That said, they are dealing with a significant youth unemployment problem and slow down in their traditional industries. Government is throwing large amounts of cash to create jobs but its fair to say they are not succeeding. Do they see mining as an answer? At the moment no but I think they may begin to. Finally pie in the sky, but Korea will need to develop their own mining capabilities preferably with a close commercial ally (Aus) in the event that North Korea opens up, in which case South Korea will suddenly be very pro mining. This is another deep rooted thought - North Korea is abundant in mineral resources but we have none. Its kind of like how we say NZ has a lot of sheep but in reality we have far more. Not to say South Korea has large resources but the rhetoric is as if they are barren.

just a bit of dribble but thats all I can provide. SAU is one of the more advanced plays and gold is easier to sell to government than vanadium or graphite. The JV partner are doing the leg work but id like to see some kind of Korean partner to come onboard to give this the big push.
