I spend a lot of time in HK, China, Singapore and other Asian nations. China has a President for life so no, they won't go down the Singapore route. HK a success? Not from the many people I interact with. A puppet administrator installed by the Party, freedom of speech being actively discouraged, etc. As I said before- no such thing as a free Peking duck from the party. They will throw money at anyone that will take it until they can't pay it back, then thanks for that shiny port we gave you and by the way if you say anything bad about us, we will bankrupt your country, now have a nice day. They have done the same in Australia, but very discretely. Buy up property, farms, ports, etc, until our economy can't function without them. Both sides of politics have sold the kitchen sink and if we want it back we will have to pay more than we have for it. Staggering how short Australian memories are when it comes to money. Our security people tell us we're being cyber attacked by China, politicians are on the take from Chinese interests, elected Australian officials have direct links to the Chinese Government, our direct neighbours are accepting billions in aid they can never repay, it goes on and on and on. One day we will wake up but not before we dump our current 2 party system.
