Bill wild is selling Austral Refrigeration. Who would buy it? Austral operates mostly in the supermarket industry dominated by Coles and Woolies.Coles has it's own contracting company, City FM, a JV with a UK based company. What does Austral sell? refrigerated cases, yes to the majors on a thin margin. Labour, not really, it is a high cost item due to union EBA's and nobody puts a margin on it anyway. Materials? Not any more. Woolworths buy the high ticket items direct. Compressor racks, condensors switchboards etc. Rumour has it that Woolies just bought forty (40) tonnes of refrigerant, R404a & R134a to avoid a tripling of the price when the carbon tax comes in on 1st of July.
I am equally outraged that Hastie has come to this. I was at Austral through good and bad but never as bad as this.
Time we all moved on, but I will be there if the sueing starts.
