Sure it is. That's because the market is a forward-looking and anticipatory beast, valuing listed securities on a prospective - as opposed to retrospective - basis.
Therefore, if one doesn't do likewise, one is likely to mis-price stocks.

A good example of why one should never take one's valuation-critical information from any source other than the gold-plated one: viz. the audited financial statements.
