Not sure about TXN's volume being lower than usual, tilleydog. Certainly Thursday's volume was negligible. But except for the time around the SEA buy, TXN volume has been low.
I can view daily volume for the past year in Bell Potter's client site, but also visible in Google finance if you set the time frame narrow enough for daily volume (about 2 months wide) and move that range back in time. You'll see that TXN daily volume was usually 100k to 300k. Last Jan-Feb and June-July it was particularly low -- often well below 100k per day. The highest volume was on 14 November (1st day of resumed trading after announcement).
As for another offer, who knows. If SEA is laughing, they are doing it quietly because those who attended the SEA AGM noticed how conspicuous SEA mgt was at downplaying the acquisition. The presentation had only one slide on the TXN purchase (Slide #16) and apparently almost no dialogue about it. Interpretation: SEA doesn't want to gloat and are holding their breath that a better offer doesn't occur.
Even if there is no other offer, I suspect TXN will get a bit more lively when results of the two wells are announced, probably within the next 4-5 weeks.
