I am starting this new thread to bring together a lot of the technical and exploration posts that have been written about the broader Paterson Province since rumours of what became Winu began to filter out to the general public last year.
One reason is to collate scattered posts. Another is in anticipation of what I, and others, hope will be a positive announcement by Greatlands about drill holes 6-9 at Havieron that mean having such data in one place will be of some help for research.
This post is mostly about information sources. Subsequent ones will include geology, geophysics, exploration models.... some overlap is inevitable. Won't be complete so please add "on topic posts" where necessary. Apologies for any omissions there are many good posts that deserve to be included.
The 100% AZY land and Citadel JV have been overshadowed by some strong rumours and a couple of spectacular drill holes in 2018. These apparent exploration successes give a modicum of hope that there may be more such deposits throughout a highly prospective and somewhat under explored Province.

PATERSON PROVINCE SEQUENCE OF ANNOUNCEMENTS 2017 2018
Gold 5000's post of 6/4/18 introduced the first of a series of Barry Fitzgerald articles which broke the news of a possible Rio discovery and led to speculation of where, what and how.
While this was the first "public outing" of Rio's "discovery" their (Rio's) staking and perhaps other activities had not gone unnoticed by industry professionals such that very little ground with shallow (<1000m!!) cover with and potential was available by mid 2018.
Antipa, not surprisingly, were one of the first to react with their 21/12/2017 announcement that they had "consolidated" their holdings and added 1091 square kilometers. I didn't really twig to what was going on but made some comments on the "staking rush" (27/12/17).
John435 is great with maps and gave this early version.
The 2018 JV exploration program included Folly as a target which, in hindsight, was a strong clue Rio were targeting Winu look alikes on the Citadel JV.
Shortly after this Barry Fitzgerald's article "broke the still waters of the Paterson Province"
AZY Barry Fitzgerald dec 30 18.pdf [updated version about the BF article of early April 2018.]
The location data provided in this article was vague so only speculations were possible (eg Onceover etc until BF's ?next article on June 18 2018 which gave satellite images that could be cross referenced to old google earth ones. This gave a location for the drilling with high precision as shown in these images.
Around the same time some actual drilling results came out from Greatland Gold's first drill hole into the Havieron project (25/6/18 121m @ 2.93g/t and 0.23% Au).
This information was followed by very good results from Hole 5 at Havieron (visuals october 1 and actual assays November 19th - 275m at 5.75g/t gold equivalent or a calculated full down hole intersection of )
Rio have not said much (?nothing) about Winu (where did the name come from?) but various tenement and statutory declarations indicate the potential scale of what they are trying to come to grips with.
- airstrip miscellaneous license - BF 26 October 2018 posted by Cate88 and the thread is still active.
- Road miscellaneous license- posted first? on AZY by Richrichie with some location data from me.
- Annual statutory report of Rio's ~$9M spend was reported in the West Australian (15/12/18) and is available from the mines department.
- anecdotal reports came out of the Antipa AGM which add colour but not much "evidence" about what is going on at "Winu".
- BHP's Oak Dam gives an example of exploration success in an IOCG province. The Paterson Province is very different but multiple exploration success is also possible though not guaranteed.
==================
2019?
Assay results for Havieron hole 5 took about 7 weeks from when the visuals were announced in early October. Using that as a guideline and add on some extra for seasonal delays 8 weeks could see results forthcoming for holes 6-9 from Havieron where visuals came out on 4 December - so late January 2019?? Hopefully they will be in the upper range of expectations (mine any way) and get the year off to a good start.
Rio will ultimately come out of the closet but don't bother holding your breath. Will probably be worth the wait if 30+? drill holes, expenditures and infrastructure preparations are any indication.
The Paterson Province is not the most pleasant of environments in high summer and cyclone season so expect on-ground exploration to be minimal. Though I would defer to folks like Onceover who have direct practical experience. Seasonal conditions are tough but manageable with attention to safety and availability of air conditioning for night time comfort.
Rio expanded the AEM to cover all of Citadel not previously covered. This would very likely be a "minor" extension of work being done on their own land. Data collection and processing - allow months. Collect detail magnetics, radiometrics,? , ??gravity at the same time.
Depending on how Rio are able to combine tenement expenditures they do have some $3M annual requirements most of which may be covered by Winu. Some will probably be separate.
AZY also have very significant commitments. Rio takes care of the JV where they may soon? earn 51%. There is enough in the kitty to last into Q2 at current burn rates.
They (Antipa) have a huge amount of data to digest from the 2018 exploration programs. Some targets are fairly obvious from the AEM but will need POW's and integration with other plans. The large "geochem" anomalies at Tims, "greater" Chicken Ranch are not easy to focus on - Minyari Dome is large as well but Au/Cu etc are not too well concentrated or easy to isolate as economic bodies. AZY need to be pretty smart to get the most bang for their bucks.
Certainly a lot of targets for AZY and other companies which nearology to Telfer, Nifty, O'Callaghans, Havieron, Winu will keep the market and exploration buzzing especially if positive results keep coming.
Consolidation, takeovers, JV's , corporate maneuvering - wide open for speculation with some quite likely IMO again more likely with good intersections.
