They have now received a Notice of Allowance from USPTO for the modified patent claims, so once the fees are paid, the patent should be issued in the next couple of months. The patent comprises four (amended) claims as distinct from the original 21 in the first filing and the modified 8 submitted during the first exam. The main ownership seems to be in the method used to secure data access over a mobile network - as I read it, it is one step up from (say) accessing a facebook account over a smartphone, as it also involves verifying the phone as well as the user.

Not sure how relevant this is any more, as am not certain if the mobile phone reading and secure transmittal are part of the Maldives or Malaysian work.
