If they find Gold under the pit at 240m plus, it won't be mined by open cut. Any of these sulphide anomilies that has gold, will require underground mining.
They would tunnel down with an entrance at a suitable location with the right geological formation, probably 1km or so away. It would generally be at a 10° incline so to get down to 240 would takes a bit of distance eg 1km.
