Looks like 4DS's sp will cross path with WBT once again soon, except that I was hoping it would be 9c and not at these lowly levels. I couldn't understand how their sp shot up in the first place - when all the MD said was they will have the first set of wafers TO TEST by the end of September. And the crowd went wild!

Some poor folks on 4DS forum still insist we haven't built our memory on 300mm wafer yet. But we know better as you couldn't do it on a loaf of bread really. Coby flashed one of that wafer around during interviews when we reached the 40nm cell. That was built on a wafer. That is a hurdle that 4DS is struggling to achieve.

I was of the assumption that 4DS is currently trying to build the Mb array, but on skimming through their announcements it looks more like they are trying to build the 40nm cell first - much like what WBT did. In fact, there is not even any mention of the size of the cells but let's just assume it is 40nm. So if they are struggling to build the 40nm cell then how much harder once they try and put it into a working array?

4DS was founded in 2008 and listed in 2010. WBT was founded in 2015 and listed in 2016. WBT already have a working chip - 40nm Mb chip! I don't understand why some people still insist that 4DS is ahead. It took them some 6 years from listing to achieve 40nm IN LAB. Professor Tour has gone to 5nm IN LAB ages ago. Now the real test begins - to try and build everything on a commercial fab.

If we think of how long it took for the semiconductor industry to get to where it is today, we shouldn't underestimate how difficult and expensive it is when a new material and process is introduced. Weebit has always made it clear that we have the easiest and most understood and fab friendly material for a new tech. The evidence is clear.

We are not really in direct competition with 4DS as the market is big enough for both. I hope they get taken over for a billion as that can only be good for us. But I doubt it will happen any time soon. First, they need to prove up their tech. Even if they can it will take time. Once everything is up to spec their cost per bit could prove inhibitive. If it will take 2 more years for Weebit to be production ready how much longer will it take 4DS ??
