Hi @paulgf.
Yes there is every argument that Conglomerate is not Alluvial.
Why?
Is it still attached to the host rock? is it still present at the source ? then it is not alluvial.
As I understand it, There must be separation from the host, usually by water and subsequent movement, eg: a placer deposit like a river bed and moved from the source, possibly those lag gravels as long as they are those water melon seed nuggets and have no attachment to the host and are not in the area of the source.
The question is, Is the conglomerate the host or close to the host, or is it the redeposition of the gold?
What I have seen go through the Tomra are encased, so they are attached.
They may even appear to be deposited by water movement but are in fact deposited by disintegration, including water.
The nuggets that have been displayed by deg at FM jv have attachment and include quartz, where the watermelon nuggets at sw, jw and Loudens are no doubt, unattached but are they present because of disintegration ( Eluvial ) or redeposited through water transport and away from the source ( Alluvial )?
I have not seen a definition in the agreement but there is a geological definition as in my previous post.
If the source is proven to be at close proximity to the position of these nuggets, then aren't they Eluvial ?
Just to remind us, this excerpt is from that definition.
Alluvial Gold (Deposited by water movement) and
Eluvial gold (disintegration of rock at the site where it originates - not there through water movement)
are essentially primary gold broken down by weathering and erosion and transported by gravity or water movement over many millenia of geological time.
I hope to see all this gold defined as Eluvial and not Alluvial.
Imho they are at the source which is the Pilbara basin, being hundreds of klm long, by hundreds of kml wide.
@Shamer is talking with Andy today so he will clear that up, I hope.
I am sure that the jv between ARV an Novo has the same question hanging over it.
Wouldn't like to be on the receiving end, or maybe the non receiving end of such an agreement.
Kind regards, Wack.
