Things are hotting up if the CWN independent director are being briefed....
"James Packer’s top lieutenant, Rob Rankin, has briefed Crown Resorts’ independent directors on the progress of talks regarding the controlling stake of Mr Packer’s private company in Crown.
It comes as discussions remain ongoing with private equity funds and pension funds about a potential buyout of Crown or other form of restructuring.
The Australian understands that Mr Rankin, chair of Crown Resorts and chief executive of Mr Packer’s private investment vehicle Consolidated Press Holdings, gave a short presentation to the directors at Wednesday’s board meeting on privatisation talks. Mr Packer did not attend the board meeting.
While negotiations ceased last month with private equity giant TPG following high-level discussions, there was speculation in the market yesterday that rival US private equity group BlackRock Private Equity Partners could still be involved."
