Don't remember reading how they were going to do it at Browns but according to ANSTO who did the testing for them it was a relatively simple process with minor addition to hydrometallurgical process. I'm guessing it would involve mixing it with some other chemicals before some extra leaching and separation. All I know and care about is that they are supposed to get more $$/kg of Dy once its removed and may even get a few bucks for the yttrium itself.
Try ANSTO website and see if there is anything on it, maybe even the test results they did for NTU.
