It is going to be very interesting getting the results back from these soil samples. I grew up in the Teviot area and it is well known that there is more gold along the flats that run down beside the Clutha river.
The whole area has an extensive history of gold mining. Gabriel's Gully(which is on the edge of the Mahinerangi block) was the site of the first major gold discovery in Otago back in 1861. There have been many small scale alluvial operations on both sides of the river over the years but this is the first time using modern technology that exploration of the Schist belt is being done.
The question is can they find a deposit similar to Macraes either in the Teviot or Mahinerangi block. Also how long will the drilling program take.
