Orivesi waste dump: Serious police investigation started

The police of Inner Finland suspects, that an environmental crime has been committed in the Orivesi mine of
Dragon Mining oy. The case is being studied with a crime name "törkea ympäristön turmeleminen"
"gross/serious environmental spoiling/destruction". Police has today on Thursday visited the place with other
authorities. The search confirms the crime suspection.

The police will continue the pre-investigation. There is a large group to be heard because the activities against the
permit conditions are suspected to have continued for years. According to the police the current management
of the mine has stopped  the wrong practice during the year 2016.
The management of the mine has cooperated with the authorities during the examination of the matter.

According to Finnish criminal law:
the maximum punishment for "törkeä ympäristönturmeleminen" is 6 years in prison
and the minimum sentence is 4 months in prison, Chapter 48 2§

If Dragon had stopped the dumping 2016, one may ask why company did
not inform the police and the supervision authority about previous crimes.
The maximum sentence is for not informing police about a serious crime is
6 months in prison, Chapter 15, 10§ of the Finnish criminal law:
The information should be given before the crime could be prevented so there
is possibilities for intrepretation ?

The news are from police release Oct 11. 14.30 (Finnish time)
Police says that the dumping is suspected to have continued until at least 2016 when the current management
of the mine has stopped  the wrong practice.
Police does not expect further news at least before the end of this year.

Dragon's ASX -release is expected in the morning Oct 12th but it will be most likely late as usual.
