I like the way you are thinking Barral, however i cant see an in specie distribution of SOLG shares to DGR holders. Especially if i would take them under that blocking stake level of 10% (not withstanding other controlled/related holdings would keep them over 10%).
I am strongly of the belief though that we may see a minimum of $100mil - $150mil + in cash returned to DGR in the case of a takeover of SOLG. That will hopefully result in a special div (FF) to DGR holders of 5c + per share minimum, and would surely see DGR re-rate to around 25c - 30c + per share. Anyway I hope they are thinking along those lines and it would send a better signal to the market this time than the Orbis distribution.
NM has been on record as saying he doesn't like JV's after a bad experience in Solomon Islands with New Hope. So i think its either takeover or a funding package to get to production for SOLG, with either option heavily involving Newcrest.
As a result i am buying DGR shares anytime i have spare cash and especially under 10c per share as i am rightly or wrongly convinced at least the value of SOLG will eventually be reflected in the DGR share price.
