I wouldn't necessarily discount a big rights issue
Would be an easy way for some significant shareholders, or outside interests to pick up the shortfall of which you would imagine has the potential to be large. So a decent position could be built relatively cheaply.
I also don't know why a bank would want equity in a mining company - what they want is the interest on their money, and for the loan to not jump across to the impaired side of their ledgers. Banking is generally a pretty simple business.
