Trouble with that theory is that when Nova run's out will be when electric vehicles are just moving into the showrooms in significant volumes.
And who knows what battery chemistry will be on the ascent in a decade? Hard to see that it can become the predominant mass technology based on nickel (or worse colbalt). Not enough readily available imho to move to near 100%. Just try 100 mm light vehicles pa at say 50 kg Ni each? Then add all the stationary batteries touted for use with Solar etc. Dwarfs current consumption. It will need to be something cheaper and more abundant.
