As a former government school P-12 principal I can assure you that schools & child care organisations are expert at controlling costs & have a very long history of doing so. Unlike our profligate health care & defence systems they almost never go overbudget because leaders are held absolutely accountable & therefore act absolutely responsibly.
The fed govt's increased rebate was a long overdue acknowledgement that margins & worker remunerations had been squeezed by government. It recognised the importance to our workforce at large of assisting workers to obtain quality day care & the value of pre-skilling our young people. IMHO ABS is well-placed to do this.
IMHO the increase from 30% to 50% will enable staff to be better remunerated, facilities improved & margins to be restored.
