Quote from the Guy that is MR Manganese
Western Uranium is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Barrie Bolton as its principal geological advisor to their manganese project near Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory.
Mr. Bolton?s experience with manganese extends over 30 years and includes 18 years either advising on, or managing BHP?s exploration program for manganese, worldwide. In this capacity he was responsible for project area selection, designing and implementing exploration strategy, the establishment and supervision of exploration teams, including specialist contractors, budget preparation and reporting. He has worked in diverse and often challenging exploration environments negotiating access and agreements with local land owners and government authorities. He has conducted exploration in most of the world?s major manganese provinces including South Africa, Gabon, Ghana, Morocco, Ukraine, Georgia, Bulgaria and Turkey. In Australia, he has worked in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, and for almost 10 years, was involved in the geological characterisation of the world-class, Groote Eylandt manganese deposit presently being mined by GEMCO. The work on Groote Eylandt included the analysis of all available drill core, detailed mapping of the manganese ore beds and their enclosing sediments, the development of an understanding of the deposit?s origin, and the formulation of an ore body model that could be used for manganese exploration around nearby areas of Arhnemland and elsewhere.
Mr. Bolton has published extensively on the geology of manganese deposits. He has also been joint leader of two UN-sponsored IGCP projects involved with manganese geology research and is currently the Vice President of IAGOD?s Commission on Manganese.
Mr. Bolton?s involvement with Western Uranium?s manganese project near Groote Eylandt will bring invaluable first hand experience to project planning and implementation.
In response to being asked why he was willing to participate in this project Mr. Bolton said, ?Groote Eylandt remains one of the most profitable manganese mines in the world. The adjacent land and shallow marine areas adjoining this remarkable deposit must represent one of the best areas in the world for the discovery of high grade manganese in a location ideally suited to meeting the rapidly growing demand from China and the other nations of Asia. For me to be part of this exciting project is an opportunity not to be missed.?
